Florida Panthers forward Derek MacKenzie hasn't exactly been lighting the lamp this season, scoring only four goals in 66 games prior to Thursday night.

That didn't stop him from scoring an unexpected and impressive diving goal off a pass from Dave Bolland to open the scoring in the Panthers' 4-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets. Scoring from your stomach — it's how everyone seems to be doing it now.

"He [Bolland] makes an unbelievable pass," MacKenzie said of his goal. "After that, I could try that 100 times and it wouldn't work. I'll account the rest of that to luck."

The Superman-style goal is arguably the assisted version of the famous Patrick Kane breakaway challenge attempt from the 2012 NHL All-Star skills competition.

His goal may not be as spectacular as Kane's entertaining theatrics, but MacKenzie definitely gets points for creativity with his team still statistically alive by a very narrow margin in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
