It was another banner weekend for Canadian athletes as speed skater Denny Morrison won two gold medals while Jennifer Jones earned a silver at the world curling championships and biathlete Nathan Smith had a historic win.

Morrison twice golden
Fort St. John, B.C.'s native-son Denny Morrison earned a gold medal Sunday in the 1,500 metre race after already topping the podium on Saturday in the 1,000 metre event at the long track speed skating World Cup meet in Erfurt, Germany.
The victory gave Morrison the overall 1,500 metre World Cup title.
His double-golden performance wasn't the only highlight as Laurent Dubreuil of Levis, Que., won silver in the 500 metre race on Sunday, his fifth World Cup medal in the distance this season. He wound up second in the overall season standings.
Vincent De Haitre of Calgary, Alta., won bronze in the 1,000 metre event Saturday, his first Wold Cup podium in his first season on the circuit.
An eighth-place finish in the women's mass start was enough for Ottawa's Ivanie Blondin to capture the overall World Cup title in the event.
Jones' curls to silver
The rink of Winnipeg native Jennifer Jones won a silver medal at the world women's curling championship in Sapporo, Japan on Sunday. Jones and crew, third Kaitlyn Lawes, second Jill Officer and lead Dawn McEwen, lost 5-3 to Switzerland's Alina Patz.
The Canadians came close, as the score was 4-3 in the ninth, but it wasn't to be as the Swiss had the hammer in the 10th, taking the win.
Canada has earned a podium spot in the tournament for six consecutive years, a record no other nation can match.
Smith earns 1st victory
Nathan Smith of Calgary, Alta., hit a milestone Saturday, winning his first biathlon World Cup race, the men's 12.5-kilometre pursuit at an event in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. He is the second Canadian to ever win a World Cup gold.
His victory comes two weeks after he became the first Canadian to win a medal at the world championships, earning a silver.
Robanske shreds to snowboard gold
Another Calgary son won gold Saturday, as Christopher Robanske won top spot at the season's final men's snowboard cross race at La Molina, Spain.
It was the second victory on the circuit for the 25-year-old and his sixth podium finish.
World Cup win a 1st for Cook
Dustin Cook of Ottawa won his first World Cup event, capturing gold at the super-G race on Thursday at the season-ending finals in Meribel, France.
He finished .05 seconds ahead of Olympic super-G champion Kjetil Jansrud. He earned a silver at the world championships and a bronze at an event two weeks ago in the discipline for his first World Cup podium.
Divers win silver
Canadian divers Meaghan Benfeito of Montreal and Vincent Riendeau of Pointe-Claire, Que., earned a silver in the 10-metre mixed synchro event at the FINA World Series diving circuit stop in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Saturday. Canadian divers won five medals at the event.
Canadian earns title at Indian Wells
Vancouver's Vasek Pospisil and American Jack Sock defeated Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli of Italy 6-4, 6-7(3), 10-7 to capture their third team title on Saturday at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Calif.
