Canadiens sweep away Bruins
For the first time since the 2007-08 season, the Montreal Canadiens swept a season's series against the Boston Bruins, invading the TD Garden Sunday for a 2-1 victory. Last spring the Canadiens knocked the Bruins out in a seven-game Eastern Conference semifinal.
This season the Habs won twice by big scores in Montreal, 6-4 and 5-1 before stopping the B's in Boston twice, 2-0 Nov. 22 and then 2-1 Sunday.
Both Canadiens' goals came in the opening minutes of periods, with Dale Weise scoring after just 38 seconds of the second, while Max Pacioretty, a thorn in the Bruins' side all season, tallied 56 seconds into the third. Meanwhile Carey Price was at his acrobatic best keeping the Bruins off the score-sheet until David Pastrnak's score with 4:31 to play. Andrei Markov provided the final Montreal score with 31 seconds remaining.

Jets end losing streak with a bang
As their hold on a playoff spot continued to slip away during a six-game losing streak, the Winnipeg Jets turned up the offence and rode four second-period goals to a 5-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.
Down 1-0 after the opening period at the MTS centre, Mathieu Perreault got the Jets flying with his 18th goal of the season, tying his personal best, at 2:04 of the middle frame. In quick order, Dustin Byfuglien, on the power play, Ben Chiarot and Bryan Little, with a 5-man-to-3 advantage, boosted Winnipeg to a comfortable lead.
It was the third consecutive loss for the Avalanche who had goals from Tyson Barrie, Matt Duchene and Alex Tanguay.
Hossa decides Central Division showdown
The Chicago Blackhawks trailed Central Division rival St. Louis Blues by six points as the team met in St. Louis in a Sunday matinee match. Tied at 2-2 in the third period, the Blackhawks would benefit from an experienced hand, 36-year-old Marian Hossa. It was Hossa, who's been battling a dry spell of late, who snapped the tie with a third period power play goal, wasting little time beating Brian Elliott, who's been fantastic for the Blues with a 1.89 goals-against average in his previous 18 starts.
Hossa then iced the win with his 12th goal of the season into an empty net to provide the 4-2 final score.
It was the Blackhawks' second win in a row, while the Blues, who just had a franchise-record 13-game points streak snapped by Columbus Friday in a 7-1 defeat, have now lost two straight.
Predators take down Panthers
Sitting in the ninth spot in the Eastern Conference, the first non-playoff position, the Florida Panthers looked to be in good position on home ice to earn a couple of points against one of the NHL's best teams the Nashville Predators.
The Panthers carried a 2-0 lead into the third period with Roberto Luongo in goal but the game took a turn on a power play drive by Seth Jones that cut the deficit in half. Then the Predators' Filip Forsberg took command. First, he tied the game at 2-2 with another power play goal with 4:43 left in regulation.
Then, in the fifth round of the shootout with both teams having two goals, he used his considerable skills to beat Luongo for the game-winner.
With the 3-2 shootout victory, the Predators jumped ahead of Anaheim for the most points in the NHL, now with 76.
