A full Saturday night in the NHL offered a milestone moment for the Calgary Flames netminder, ended two losing skids and pitted several all-stars against each other.

Joni Ortio earns first shutout
Calgary Flames netminder Joni Ortio shone in his first start of the season, holding off the Vancouver Canucks for a 1-0 victory. The 23-year-old played in nine games with the Flames last season, but was still very impressive filling in for an injured Karri Ramo.
Ortio stopped 36 shots for the Flames to earn his first career NHL shutout. The Flames were outshot 36-23, so the Finnish goalie was very busy.
The victory ended a three-game losing streak for the Flames, who are fighting to gain position in a crowded Pacific division. They are now only two points behind the second place Canucks, but still sit outside of the playoff picture.
Frustration boiled over at the end of the game with a tussle between Canucks forward Alexandre Burrows and Flames defenceman Mark Giordano.
Senators end skid
The Ottawa Senators responded to an early Arizona Coyotes tally with five unanswered goals to end a three-game skid.
Ottawa's 5-1 victory had five different Senators contribute with goals. Rookie Mike Hoffman scored his 14th of the season to cushion his lead as Ottawa's top goal scorer.
The Senators rebounded after a dispiriting 5-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday that saw Craig Anderson pulled after allowing three goals on nine shots.
Anderson seems to have lit a fire underneath his team with his post-game comments, stating that they needed to get "meaner and tougher."
Price shines once again
Three NHL all-star selections showed why they made the cut in a thrilling 2-1 overtime match.
The Montreal Canadiens ultimately came up short against the Pittsburgh Penguins thanks to a goal from Sidney Crosby. Teammate and fellow all-star Evgeni Malkin had the other goal for the Penguins, while Max Pacioretty had the lone goal for the Habs.
Despite the loss, Canadiens goalie Carey Price provided another standout performance for his team. He flashed his brilliance when he held off Crosby in the third period while the Canadiens were on the penalty kill with an incredible glove save.
This was the Canadiens first back-to-back loss in over a month. Prior to the consecutive defeats, they had won nine of 10 games.
Wild game ends in shootout victory
After scoring three goals in the first seven minutes of a game against the Los Angeles Kings, it looked like the Winnipeg Jets were heading for an easy victory.
The reigning Stanley Cup champions refused to be downed so easily, answering with two first period powerplay goals. They tied the game in the third period and had what looked to be the game-winner until Zach Bogosian evened things up.
A four round shootout ended with a successful Bryan Little attempt to allow the Jets to claim a 5-4 victory.
The win ended a two-game skid, and put them a point ahead of the Kings to move up to the first playoff wild card spot in the West.
