The Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers were both runaway winners, while the Calgary Flames lost a wild game to the Florida Panthers.

Leafs give Horachek 1st win
It was a night of firsts for the Leafs. The team earned its first win of 2015 after a 5-2 win over the Blue Jackets, and in the process gave interim coach Peter Horachek his first win behind the bench. It was also announced Friday that Horachek would coach the team for the rest of the season.
Horachek was awarded the player of the game military hoodie.
Phil Kessel had a goal and assist in the win. James van Riemsdyk scored a pair of goals, including one into the empty net that sealed the victory.
Toronto, which snapped a three-game losing streak, now faces the daunting task of playing 16 of its next 23 games on the road.
Prior to Friday night's game, Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky signed a four-year, $29.7-million US contract extension.
The 26-year-old Bobrovsky, the 2013 Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL's top goalie, has a record of 68-41-13 with a 2.34 goals-against average, .924 save percentage and 10 shutouts in 123 games since being acquired from Philadelphia for second- and third-round picks in the 2012 draft and a fourth-round pick in 2013.
The game had one casualty as NHL referee Dean Morton left Friday night's affair after a nasty collision with Leafs forward David Clarkson.
Oilers upend Blackhawks
Derek Roy had a goal and two assists as the Edmonton Oilers came away with a 5-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday. Benoit Pouliot, Jeff Petry, Nail Yakupov and Taylor Hall also scored for the Oilers.
The team has now gone 3-1-2 with interim coach Todd Nelson at the helm. The Oilers had lost 20 of their previous 21 games before showing signs of life of late.
Here's a look at Petry's goal, which turned out to be the game winner.
Flames lose wild affair to Panthers
The Flames dropped a wild/odd/crazy 6-5 contest to the Panthers. With the score tied in the third period, Panthers defenceman Brian Campbell scored at 9:29 on a shot that went off the left arm of Flames goatlender Jonas Hiller, giving Florida a 5-4 lead.
However, replays appear to show Panthers forward Sean Bergenheim tipping the puck with a high stick, but officials in Toronto determined the video proved to be inconclusive.
Flames forward Matt Stajan then tied the game at 16:06 and the game appeared headed for overtime. But Tomas Fleischmann struck back 46 seconds later to give Florida the victory.
