Canada's Justin Kripps and Bryan Barnett was a bronze medal in the men's two-man bobsleigh event Saturday in Koenigssee, Germany.

Kripps, from Summerland, B.C., and Barnett, of Edmonton, took third in a two-run time of one minute, 42.19 seconds.

It was the second career World Cup medal for the Canadian duo, with the other — a gold — also coming on the Konigssee track.

The pair won the event just weeks before the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

"I had good start times and good runs so everything came together," said Kripps. "I love Konigssee. I like the flow of the track. There is a great atmosphere here with lots of fans. The music is playing and the track just fits my driving style."

Switzerland's Beat Hefti and Alex Baumann claimed their second bobsled World Cup victory of the season, with the pair now taking the overall lead in the standings.

The Olympic silver medalists were fastest in both runs (1:41.16), and beat Germany's Nico Walther and Marko Huebenbecker (1:41.68) by 0.52 seconds for their second successive win.

Hefti and Baumann have 842 points, ahead of previous leaders Melbardis and Dreiskens on 829.

Kripps and Barnett are in sixth with 672 points.

"I feel confident on all the tracks we race, but I just have a good feeling here," added Kripps. "I am able to blast out of those S curves with lots of speed and you need to do that to be successful here. It is a relatively short track so if you drive those S curves well you can be good here. I just seem to have good rhythm and carry my speed to the bottom."

Calgary's Chris Spring and Alexander Kopacz, of London, Ont., finish 12th in 1:43.16.

Earlier, Dave Greszczyszyn of Brampton, Ont., was 16th in the men's skeleton race, posting a time of 1:44.35.

Russia's Alexander Tretiakov claimed the gold medal in 1:42.98. Latvia's Martins Dukurs was second in 1:43.15 while American Matthew Antoine was third in 1:43.29.

Barrett Martineau and Evan Neufeldt, both of Calgary, were 18th and 19th, respectively.
