Chicago Blackhawks centre Jonathan Toews left Thursday night's game against the Bruins after getting checked from behind by Boston defenceman Dennis Seidenberg.

While playing the puck in the Bruins' end, Seidenberg sent Toews head-first into the boards midway through the second period.

Seidenberg was assessed a two-minute boarding penalty.

Toews was shaken but remained on the ice for the 5-on-3 power play. He then took a two-minute hooking penalty 49 seconds later but didn't return to the game for precautionary reasons.

Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville offered a positive prognosis after the game.

"Dangerous. Tight area. Strong guy," said Quenneville, whose team skated to a 3-2 victory. "He seemed all right. We'll see how he is tomorrow, but it looks like he's going to be all right."

What should the NHL do about the Seidenberg hit on Toews?
