Five Canadian teams were in action on a busy Saturday night in the NHL.
The Leafs defeated the Blackhawks 3-2, the Jets earned a shootout victory, the Canucks picked up their fourth-straight win against the Oilers, while the Senators fell to the Bruins in Boston.
Here are a few story lines from around the league.
Reimer shines in Leafs' win
James Reimer got the call and he certainly didn't disappoint the fans as the Maple Leafs defeated the Blackhawks 3-2 at Air Canada Centre.
Reimer made 45 saves, including 26 in a hectic third period, while Peter Holland came through with the game-winning goal.
The Leafs have now won three straight and have also managed to climb to fifth place in the Atlantic Division standings.
Taylor Hall leaves game with injury
The 22-year-old left-winger was forced out in the second period after he crashed into the net, hit his right leg on the goal post and then slid into the boards. Edmonton will have to hope the injury isn't too serious as Hall is the team leader in points with six goals and three assists.
Hall's scoring punch was missed by the Oilers in the third period in what ended up as a 3-2 loss to the Canucks in Vancouver.
The Oilers closed out their seven game homestand with a mark of three wins and four losses and now embark on a five-game road trip.
As for the Canucks, they are winners of four in a row and are now holding down second place in the Pacific Division.
Hurricanes pick up first win, Semin sits
The Carolina Hurricanes finally got rid of that goose egg in the win column after starting the season 0-6-2.
Cam Ward made 25 saves and recorded a shutout in their 3-0 victory over the Coyotes in Arizona.
Prior to the game, Hurricanes coach Bill Peters sent a message to his team by listing Alexander Semin as a healthy scratch. Semin, who earns $7 million and is the second-highest paid player on the roster behind Eric Staal, had recorded just two assists and racked up a -7 plus/minus rating in the team's first eight games.
In his post-game news conference, Peters spoke about his decision and more generally about the new culture that he is trying to build with the Hurricanes.
Judging by the Hurricanes performance, the message is starting to get through.
