Only the Vancouver Canucks skated away with a victory. The win keeps Vancouver (3-0-0) perfect on the season, while the Toronto Maple Leafs suffered another dreadful home defeat, and the Edmonton Oilers remained winless.

Another low for Leafs
The Leafs would like to forget their game against the Detroit Red Wings on many levels. First, they lost winger Brandon Kozun on what looks like a pretty serious leg injury. Second, they endured another home game where a fan tossed a jersey onto the Air Canada Centre ice. Finally, they were humbled by the Red Wings 4-1. It was Toronto's third home loss in the team's four games. Red Wings star Henrik Zetterberg set up four goals, including this beauty to Johan Franzen. Perfect Canucks keep Oilers miserable
The good news for Edmonton (0-4-1) is that it didn't allow at least five goals for the first time this season. The bad news was the Oilers still lost for the fifth straight time — a first in franchise history. The Canucks — on goals by Radim Vrbata and Daniel Sedin — defeated Edmonton 2-0. It was the second time this season Vancouver beat Edmonton. Goalie Ryan Miller earned his 30th career shutout. Vancouver defenceman Dan Hamhuis was rushed off the ice pouring blood after being hit by an inadvertent high stick by Edmonton's Mark Arcobello. Hamhuis returned late in the second wearing a cage.
Flames' rally falls short
The Calgary Flames made a valiant effort to rally from a three-goal deficit on the road against the Columbus Blue Jackets but came up one-goal short. Matt Calvert's goal with more than 12 minutes remaining in the second gave Columbus what appeared to be a comfortable 3-0 lead. But a furious comeback from the Flames after third-period goals by Mason Raymond and Josh Jooris made fans in Columbus nervous before the team skated away with a 3-2 win. Despite the loss, Jooris will never forget this game as he scored his first NHL goal — and it was pretty.
Predators spoil Jets' home opener
Coming off a 2-3 road trip, the Winnipeg Jets were hoping to give their fans reason to cheer during the team's home opener. But they couldn't even score a goal much less win the game. Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne was brilliant as his 31-save shutout performance powered the Predators to a 2-0 win. Mike Ribeiro and James Neal provided the offence for the Predators.
