Which Canadian team will end Stanley Cup drought?

Written By Unknown on Senin, 22 September 2014 | 21.22

You know the year, but I'll remind you for the millionth time.

It's been 21 years since the Montreal Canadiens hoisted the Stanley Cup.

At the time, no one could have imagined they would be the last Canadian team to win hockey's holy grail.

Other Canadian teams have come close since 1993.

In 2004, the Calgary Flames held a 3-2 series lead on the Tampa Bay Lighting, only to lose in seven games.

The undermanned Edmonton Oilers took the Carolina Hurricanes to the limit two years later.

The Ottawa Senators made the Stanley Cup final in 2007, but they were no match for the Anaheim Ducks.

Of course, who could forget the meltdown by the Vancouver Canucks in 2011. Vancouver held series leads of 2-0 and 3-2 to the Boston Bruins. They even had one final chance on home ice yet played a stinker of a Game 7.

Last season, the Canadiens advanced to the Eastern Conference final. However, Montreal couldn't overcome the loss of goaltender Carey Price in the opening game to the New York Rangers, and went on to lose in six games.

So the drought continues.

It has to end at some point, right?

Well, now we ask you.

Vote in our poll and have your say.

Which Canadian team will be the first to win the Stanley Cup?
