NASCAR's first Camping World Truck Series in Canada took an unexpected turn off the track on Sunday when driver Max Papis was slapped in the face by a competitor's girlfriend.

NASCAR's first Camping World Truck Series in Canada took an unexpected turn off the track on Sunday.

Driver and all-around bad boy Max Papis was fighting for second place with Mike Skeen when the two made contact on the final bend of the 2.459-mile road course at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ont.

Papis spun both their vehicles off the track and the racers exchanged hand gestures during the cool-down lap. But the day wasn't over for the Italian driver who left some people unimpressed.

While Papis was unbuckling, a rival crew member reached into his cab to confront him, but was quickly tackled by members of Papis's team. Then after a TV interview, a woman approached Papis with a hard, open-palmed slap to the left side of his face.

Some reports identify the woman as Skeen's girlfriend, Kelly Heaphy. Papis told ESPN.com that he suffered a dislocated jaw from Heaphy's slap.

"If she would've closed her hand it would have been a bad punch, because she hit me so freaking hard," he said.

Papis did not retaliate but he did criticize Skeen on his verified Twitter account:
