The Winnipeg Jets moved back into a wild-card spot on Monday night by shutting out Minnesota and getting some help from Vancouver, which beat L.A. in a shootout.

Canucks control their destiny
With a 2-1 shootout win over the Kings, the Vancouver Canucks now control their playoff destiny.
They have two games left and are not relying on any other team to win or lose to ensure they make a post-season appearance.
The Canucks have 97 points and sit securely in second place in the Pacific Division.
Vancouver goalie Eddie Lack was essential to the victory, making 36 saves and denying all attempts in the shootout.
By earning a point, the Kings matched third-pace Calgary in the Pacific Division at 93 points. The Flames own the tiebreaker with more regulation and overtime wins this season, meaning the Kings are out of a playoff position for now.
Henrik earns assist No. 700
With a pass to brother Daniel, the Canucks' Henrik Sedin recorded his 700th NHL assist. He is Vancouver's all-time assists leader. The goal tied things up at 1-1 against the Kings, setting up the extra time.
Jets get closer
Vancouver's victory was also big for the Jets, who earlier in the night gave their post-season dream a boost by blanking the Wild 2-0 to move within two points of top wild card Minnesota. The Wild could have clinched a playoff spot with a regulation win.
Winnipeg's Blake Wheeler scored off a deflection courtesy of the skate of Wild defenceman Marco Scandella early in the first to open up the scoring.
The Jets now have 94 points and hold the second wild-card spot in the West with three games remaining in their season. L.A. had held that position going into the night, but now trails Winnipeg by one point.
Minnesota holds the first wild-card spot in the West with 96 points.
Pavelac stands on head
Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec played a fantastic game, stopping 32 shots to earn his third shutout of the season.
"Big win, big win in a tough building," Pavelec said.
Rangers league's best
The New York Rangers continued to show why they are Stanley Cup contenders, winning their fourth straight and increasing their point total to a league-best 109 with a 4-3 overtime win over the Blue Jackets.
Rangers forward Derek Stepan scored the game-tying goal late in the third period and the game-winning goal in overtime.
New York sits two points ahead of the Anaheim Ducks in the Presidents' Trophy race with three games to go. The Rangers have four more regulation and overtime wins to own the tiebreaker.
