The scoresheet doesn't credit an assist on Steven Stamkos's goal in the first period of a tilt between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens on Monday night.

However, he did receive some help from a rather unlikely source.

While it was obviously an honest mistake, Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty put a pass right on the stick of Stamkos.

Despite the surprise of the moment, the Lightning star knew just what to do with the unexpected gift as he raced to the net and potted his 38th goal of the season, helping Tampa Bay to a 4-2 win.
