Yes, there are some players who want to work hard and play for the Toronto Maple Leafs. David Booth showed he's got plenty of desire and it paid off with a goal Monday night against the New York Islanders.

Near the end of the first period, Booth, who scored Toronto's lone goal in their listless Saturday night thrashing at the hands of the St. Louis Blues, carried the puck along the boards, passed it to himself and then wedged himself between two Islanders defenders. The 30-year-old Washington, Mich., native zipped in on Islanders goaltender Michal Neuvirth, making his second start after coming via trade from Buffalo, and beat him with a backhand shot.

It gave Booth goals in three consecutive games as he begins to get more ice time of late after dealing with injuries throughout his career.

Booth played the last three seasons with the Vancouver Canucks and enjoyed his best season as a member of the Florida Panthers in the 2008-09 season, when he had 31 goals and 60 points.

Booth left the ice after a second period collision when it looked like he may have been struck by a skate in the back. It was termed an upper body-injury but Booth returned for the start of the third period.
