Did the Leafs err by bringing back Jonathan Bernier?

Let the second-guessing begin.

The Leafs lost their 10th straight game after dropping a 4-3 decision to the Nashville Predators Tuesday night.

The way the team played in the month of January —Toronto was a pathetic 1-11-1 in that stretch — the outcome in Nashville wasn't a surprise.

The talk after the game wasn't that the Leafs lost, but how the team's losing streak continued.

With Nashville leading 2-1 late in the the second period, Leafs starting goaltender Jonathan Bernier cut himself on his left leg while stopping a breakaway.

Bernier left for the dressing room and was replaced by James Reimer, who stopped all four shots that he faced and started the third period.

Toronto promptly scored quick goals in a 37-second span to grab 3-2 lead with the period not even three minutes old.

But Toronto head coach Peter Horachek decided to put Bernier back in shortly after the Leafs grabbed the scoring advantage. Bernier then gave up two goals, which turned out to be enough for the Predators to skate away with a 4-3 victory.

"You're dressing here and you go out there and it's 3-2 now," Bernier said after the game. "I don't know if Reimer is playing well, I couldn't see the game, but at the same time I wanted to go out there and do my job and show the guys I care and wanted to go back out there."

Horachek was willing to give him that shot.

"I felt with that type of care and character of him wanting to get back in the game was important and him being one of our leaders I thought it was important to let him back in today's game,"
