Dufour-Lapointe, Kingsbury win moguls gold

Canada's Justine Dufour-Lapointe and Mikael Kingsbury who each won two medals at the freestyle and snowboard world championships last week, soared to victories in world cup freestyle moguls events at Lake Placid, N.Y.

  • Dufour-Lapointe moved past American Hannah Kearney into top spot in the women's overall standings with the win.
  • Kingsbury, who leads the overall men's World Cup standings by 204 points over teammate Marquis, said he has taken on a leadership role with the team after the retirement of two-time Olympic champion Alex Bilodeau.

Morrison, Blondin shine in speed skating

Denny Morrison of Chetwynd, B.C.and Ottawa's Ivanie Blondin both reached the podium in World Cup races in Hamar Norway on Sunday. 

  • By placing third in the 1500-metre, Morrison earned his 40th career individual medal in a World Cup event. It was also his first medal this year.
  • Blondin earned a silver in the mass start to take home her sixth medal of the season. 

Gough wins silver in World Cup luge

Canadian Alex Gough took second place at a World Cup luge event in Lillehammer, Norway on Saturday.

Rocque wins 2nd straight junior curling title​

Kelsey Rocque has done it again. The 20-year-old Edmonton native captured her second straight women's gold medal at the Canadian junior curling championships on Saturday night as Alberta beat Ontario's Chelsea Brandwood 8-2.

  • Rocque will be joined by third Danielle Schmiemann, second Holly Jamieson, lead Jessica Iles and coach Amanda-Dawn Coderre at the 2015 world junior championships, beginning Feb. 28 in Tallinn, Estonia.

Humphries takes bobsleigh bronze

Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries finished third with her brakewoman Melissa Lotholz, 0.51 seconds back at a World Cup event in La Plagne, France on Friday. It was there fourth win of the season. 

  • Americans Elana Meyers Taylor and Cherrelle Garrett won the race, followed by Jamie Greubel Poser and Lauryn Williams also from the U.S.
  • Humprhries is third overall in World Cup points with 132. 

Wiggins gets revenge 

Andrew Wiggins may not have got the ultimate revenge against the team that traded him, but it was pretty close.

  • The Canadian forward poured in a career-high 33 points for the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night in a matchup with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
