Seahawks' comeback win over Packers: 7 must-see plays

Written By Unknown on Senin, 19 Januari 2015 | 21.22

The Seattle Seahawks pulled off an incredible come-from-behind victory to defeat the Green Bay Packers and win the NFC title on Sunday, and a chance to defend their Super Bowl crown on Feb. 1 in Glendale, Ariz.

In case you missed the amazing series of events that brought the Seahawks back from the edge of oblivion before their home crowd, here are seven plays you need to see:

Fake field goal for touchdown

The Seahawks' comeback began as they were down 16-0 late in the third quarter. Canadian punter Jon Ryan pretended to set up a field goal attempt, but instead threw a touchdown pass to Garry Gilliam to earn Seattle's first points of the game.

Lynch carries weight of 2 teams

The Packers responded with a field goal to make it 19-7 by the fourth quarter, but that didn't stop the Seahawks. Marshawn Lynch symbolized their resolve, carrying players from both sides as he ran for an important first down.

Touchdown with 2 minutes to go

It was getting down to the wire as the Seahawks sat at third-and-goal with just over two minutes left in the game. Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson faked the hand-off and ran the ball in for the touchdown to make it 19-14.

Onside kick recovery

With the Seahawks down five points and two minutes left in the game, they had no choice but to try an on-side kick. Improbably, they recovered it. The ball bounced off the helmet of Packers tight end Brandon Bostick before being caught by Chris Matthews. Lucky bounce for the Seahawks.

Lynch runs in TD

With a minute and a half to go, Lynch took things into his own hands, making a big play by rushing 24 yards for a touchdown to give the Seahawks the lead for the first time.

2-point conversion

With a one-point lead after Lynch's touchdown, the Seahawks went for and got the two-point conversion instead of kicking for the single point. The move gave Seattle a three-point lead, ensuring the Packers would need more than a field goal to win the game in regulation.

TD in OT

The Packers were able to score a field goal with less than 20 seconds in the game to force overtime, tying things up at 22 apiece. But that was all the Packers could do as, after Seattle won the coin toss and received the ball, Wilson threw a long bomb shortly into the extra frame, connecting with wide receiver Jermaine Kearse for a 35-yard touchdown and the victory.

From down by 16 to winning in overtime, the Seahawks came from way behind to earn a ticket back to the Super Bowl. They'll play the New England Patriots, who took the AFC championship Sunday with a 45-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Foxborough.
