McIlroy 'fuzzy' on Ryder Cup topless kilt photo

Rory McIlroy, the world's No. 1 golfer had plenty of reason to celebrate his Ryder Cup victory.

McIlroy scored a point on the final day of the tournament to help push his Europe squad to a decisive victory over the United States.

Well, the only thing that could possibly overshadow the 25-year-old's performance was his partying.

Posing with teammate Stephen Gallacher, a photo of a shirtless McIlroy adorning a Scottish inspired kilt and a red wig went viral on social media this week.

But, it is his response to how he ended up in that state which is telling.

"Honestly ... I don't remember. The timeline gets a bit fuzzy about midnight," said McIlroy on Wednesday.

The extent of the partying does not come as a surprise. Anybody who watched the champagne soaked European players shuffle their way into the post-Ryder Cup press conference could tell they were in for a good night.

What is surprising, and slightly refreshing, is the amount the players were willing to share from their night out.

Team mate Lee Westwood tweeted a selfie of himself and Graeme McDowell with a pair of bobbies.

Lee Westwood shared another photo of himself holding the Ryder Cup, surrounded by team mate Ian Poulter and friends.

Perhaps the best party photo was from a pair of U.S. players.

Just hours after suffering a disappointing loss, American team mate Rickie Fowler and Hunter Mahan were in good enough spirits to have a go at McIlroy's escapades.
