Will Ryan Miller lead Canucks to playoffs?

Former Vancouver Canucks general manager Mike Gillis certainly made a mess of the Roberto Luongo-Cory Schneider goaltending situation.

It's a big reason why he's no longer employed with the team.

With both goalies gone, the team signed veteran Ryan Miller to a three-year, $18-million US contract. The hope is that Miller can rediscover his top form and lead the Canucks back to the playoffs after dismal season last year by the team.

"It is surprising if you go back in time, but with the way things played out and the environment of the NHL, things change quite a bit, sometimes quickly," Miller told reporters during the opening of training camp. "I've never been on a team where something hasn't changed. I'm happy to have the opportunity. It's a team that has a great history."

The recent history hasn't been good.

A lot has to go right for the Canucks, and it all starts with Miller.
