Montreal Canadiens name 4 assistant captains for 2014-2015 season

The Montreal Canadiens have opted to go with four alternate captains rather than giving one player the C.

The club announced that defencemen Andrei Markov and P.K. Subban and forwards Tomas Plekanec and Max Pacioretty will all be assistant captains this season.

The announcement was made Monday while the four men were participating at a charity golf event in Montreal.

Plekanec and Markov will wear the A for all games. Meanwhile, Pacioretty will wear it for home games, while Subban will wear it for away games. 

Last season's captain Brian Gionta signed with the Buffalo Sabres in the off-season.
