It's been only five days but the improvement is remarkable.

Last Thursday, Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton was hit under the left eye by a fastball from Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Mike Fiers.

It was a frightening scene as Stanton was bleeding from the face while he was driven off the field in an ambulance. He also sustained facial fractures and dental damage.

But Stanton updated his status Tuesday by posting side-by-side photo of his face on his Instagram account.

Considering the damage done, the second photo shows a marked improvement from when he was taken off the field.

Have a look.

Stanton was grateful for all the support he received after the incident.

Stanton led the NL with 37 homers and had a major league-best 105 RBIs when he was beaned. The outfielder has said he would like to play again this season, but manager Mike Redmond is doubtful that will happen.

"I would want nothing more than to have him step into that box before the season's over, just for him to have that comfort level of knowing that he got back into that box and didn't have for his last memory of the 2014 season of being get hit in the mouth," Redmond said. "But we're not sure that's a reality."

Here's the clip of what will likely sideline Stanton for the rest of the season.
