Canadian international goalkeeper Milan Borjan is in line to play for Bulgarian club Ludogorets Razgrad when it takes on English powerhouse Liverpool in a UEFA Champions League match Tuesday.
With Ludogorets starter Vladislav Stoyanov suspended and backup Ivan Cvorovic out with a shoulder injury, the team signed Borjan last week.
Borjan, who had been without a club, started for Canada in a surprising 3-1 friendly win over Jamaica last week in Toronto.
The 26-year-old, who was born in Croatia and has lived in Winnipeg and Hamilton, previously played for teams in Serbia, Argentina, Uruguay, Turkey and Romania.
According to Major League Soccer's official website, Borjan would become the first Canadian to play in the UEFA Champions League tournament since 2007-08, when goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld suited up for Norwegian club Rosenborg.
