Gary Bettman has taken the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Clad in shorts, aviator shades and a 2014 Winter Classic hoodie (no way he paid for that, right?), the NHL commissioner joined the popular campaign to raise awareness of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) by dumping a pail of frigid water over his head.

The Ice Bucket Challenge has really caught on over the last week, with many athletes, celebrities and public figures — among them NHL star Sidney Crosby, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg and New Jersey governor Chris Christie — posting video of themselves taking the plunge and asking others to follow suit.

Bettman answered the challenges issues by Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs , ESPN anchor John Buccigross, Jets executive Mark Chipman and "a number of other people."

The commissioner in turn called out Flames president Brian Burke, Kings assistant general manager Rob Blake and Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan — all former employees at the league office.

Earlier this week, NHL free agent Paul Bissonnette impressed with a slickly produced video showing himself getting doused from a helicopter.
