Gary Bettman and Brian Burke have answered the Ice Bucket Challenge.
Bettman was the first of the two to join the popular campaign to raise awareness of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Clad in shorts, aviator shades and a 2014 Winter Classic hoodie (no way he paid for that, right?), the NHL commissioner joined the set of high-profile people who have dumped a pail of frigid water over their heads on camera.
The Ice Bucket Challenge has really caught on over the last week, with many athletes, celebrities and public figures — among them NHL star Sidney Crosby, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg and New Jersey governor Chris Christie — posting video of themselves taking the plunge and asking others to follow suit.
Bettman answered the challenges issues by Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs , ESPN anchor John Buccigross, Jets executive Mark Chipman and "a number of other people."
The commissioner in turn called out Burke, the Calgary Flames' president, along with Kings assistant general manager Rob Blake and Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan — all former employees at the league office.
Burke responded, with an assist from Buccigross.
Earlier this week, NHL free agent Paul Bissonnette impressed with a slickly produced video showing himself getting doused from a helicopter.
