Already facing a 2-0 series deficit, the Tampa Bay Lightning's attempt to win Game 3 seemed to get a lot harder when their captain took a knee to the head in Montreal during the second period on Sunday.

After falling down following a tussle with Montreal's Brandon Prust, Stamkos may not have seen the Habs' Alexei Emelin skating past, but definitely felt the defenceman's knee make contact with the Bolts captain's head:

Stamkos was attended to by a trainer, and had to take a knee before he skated off the ice under his own power. He did not return to the bench, instead headed straight to the Lightning dressing room.

Update: Stamkos returned to the ice in the third period.
