Don Cherry is totally on board with the hiring of Brendan Shanahan as president of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

During his Coach's Corner segment on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday, Cherry said Shanahan's appointment, which the team made official on Friday, was a "great move," and the Hall of Famer will "do a great job."

Cherry also addressed the dismissal of Vancouver Canucks GM Mike Gillis, saying the former executive's undoing was the way his bungled the goalie situation between Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider.
