The list of injured Detroit Red Wings keeps growing.
The National Hockey League team will be without the services of defenceman Jonathan Ericsson who will be sidelined three to five weeks with two fractured ribs, according to general manager Ken Holland.
Ericsson joins a list that includes: Henrik Zetterberg (herniated disc), Darren Helm (sprained shoulder), Justin Abdelkader (concussion), Johan Franzen (concussion), Jimmy Howard (sprained MCL), Stephen Weiss (sports hernia) and several others.
The 29-year-old shutdown defenceman appeared to hurt himself on two separate occasions during Monday's 3-0 home loss to the New York Islanders, on collisions with forwards Josh Bailey and Matt Martin.
Ericsson has eight points and a plus-9 rating in 29 games this season. He has already missed 10 games this season with a partial dislocation of his left shoulder.
Jakub Kindl will take Ericsson's place in the lineup Saturday, against the hometown Panthers, after being a healthy scratch for the past two games,
