The injury ravaged Pittsburgh Penguins are down another player, only this time it's due to suspension, not an ailment.
The National Hockey League on Wednesday suspended defenceman Deryk Engelland five games for his first-period hit against Detroit forward Justin Abdelkader on Dec. 14.
Engelland was assessed a match penalty after colliding with Abdelkader near the centre red line, his shoulder appearing to connect the Red Wings player's chin.
Abdelkader needed to be helped off the ice at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena with 29.3 seconds remaining in the opening period.
Engelland will forfeit $14,529.90 US in salary, which goes to the players' emergency assistance fund.

He will serve the second game of his suspension Wednesday when the Penguins visit the New York Rangers.
Engelland will be eligible to return Dec. 27 at Carolina.
