Few opponents could stop Steven Stamkos during the first six weeks of the NHL season.

The Boston Bruins held the Tampa Bay star centre without a point in two earlier meetings this season plus 12 minutes two seconds of Monday afternoon's game at Boston's TD Garden until Stamkos came to a complete halt after sliding into the goal post in the Lightning end.

Stamkos, who broke his right tibia (shin bone) on the play and is out indefinitely, was backchecking in the second period when he got tangled with Bruins defenceman Dougie Hamilton.

The pair went to the net hard, with Stamkos receiving the most damage, as his right leg crashed into the goal post around the shin area.
