Age no longer excuse for Edmonton
CBC Sports Posted: Oct 11, 2013 2:09 PM ET Last Updated: Oct 11, 2013 3:53 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers' youth movement is growing old, Jim Hughson believes.
The Hockey Night in Canada play-by-play man says in his weekly video blog that it's time for the National Hockey League club to mature and start producing tangible results, not just languish at the bottom of the standings in a perennial state of rebuilding.
New head coach Dallas Eakins may have a tough task, but his squad will need to buy into his system if they hope to catch a sniff at the playoffs.
The Oilers were in last place in the Pacific Division with a 1-3-0 record heading into Saturday night's game in Toronto (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 6:30 p.m. ET).
