Loui Eriksson was helped off the ice by his teammates, dazed as he made the way to his team's bench.

The Bruins forward had just been levelled with a high neutral-zone hit by Buffalo Sabres tough guy John Scott.

With his team up 4-2 midway through the third period on Wednesday night, Eriksson was carrying the puck through the neutral zone and dumped it in to the Sabres' corner.

Cue Scott, who swooped across the ice along the red line and drilled Eriksson with what appeared to be an elbow to the winger's head.

The native of Gothenburg, Sweden did not return to the game and would remain hospitalized in Buffalo overnight for precautionary reasons and is expected to return to Boston on Thursday. Scott received five minutes and a game misconduct for his actions in the Bruins' 5-2 win.

Scott escaped punishment after a pre-season melee with the Toronto Maple Leafs involving Phil Kessel but he may not get off this time, as he reportedly has an in-person hearing with the NHL over the incident.

What do you think? Does Scott deserve to be punished? Why or why not?
