Canadian wrestler Stacie Anaka won a silver medal in the 67-kilogram weight class Friday at the FILA world championships.
It was Canada's second medal at the competition. Jessica MacDonald of Windsor, Ont., won a bronze medal Wednesday.
Anaka, a 26-year-old from Coquitlam, B.C., was added to the roster just six weeks ago when Dorothy Yeats went down to injury. Anaka reached the final with an 8-6 win over China's Zhangting Zhou of China before falling to Ukraine's Alina Stadnik-Makhynia via pinfall.
"It ended a little too quickly to my liking, but overall I am very pleased with being second in the world," Anaka said. "It was especially awesome to walk behind the Canadian flag entering the mat."
The event continues over the weekend with the Greco-Roman tournaments. Canada does not have any wrestlers entered in those competitions.
Also Friday, Canadian wrestler Carol Huynh was inducted into the FILA Hall of Fame.
