Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman John-Michael Liles was the victim of an accidental collision with Bruins forward Daniel Paille on Saturday, forcing him out of the game with an ankle injury.

John-Michael Liles was expecting to leave the ice under his own power on Saturday night.
But an awkward play changed all that in the second period of Toronto's 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins.

The Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman was the victim of an accidental collision with Bruins forward Daniel Paille. Liles was jumping in to play the puck off a face-off as Paille was sliding toward him, taking out the Toronto player. Liles was in obvious pain and was helped to the dressing room with an ankle injury. He did not return.

Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle told reporters after the game X-rays were negative, while there is no immediate word on the 32-year-old's status for Toronto's next game at Boston Monday.

He has one goal and five assists in 19 games this year.
