8 injured NHLers sidelined long-term

Written By Unknown on Jumat, 25 Januari 2013 | 21.22

Well, that didn't take long.

Less than a week into the 48-game National Hockey League season, eight players have been sidelined with long-term injuries, which many feared could occur at a significant rate, given a compressed schedule that followed a six-day training camp.

Of the eight players profiled above, Colorado forward Steve Downie and Los Angeles defenceman Matt Greene have sustained the most serious injuries and are expected to miss the balance of the lockout-shortened campaign.

Is this going to be one of those years where we see a constant parade to the infirmary? Or, is this just a blip while some players work themselves into shape following a 113-day work stoppage?

Vote in our poll and have your say!

Will the rate of NHL injuries in Week 1 continue?
